Registration Advising

Please check our office hours and come prepared with a printed audit report.  Students are encouraged to check their audit to determine their outstanding requirements before meeting with an advisor. Information on the audit can be found at http://registrar.ucmerced.edu/mydegreepath.

Walk-Ins – During peak advising, the academic advisors will be meeting a large volume of students. In order to facilitate this process, you should come prepared with your printed MyAudit, a tentative course schedule, as well as specific questions. Please try to keep your meeting to less than 10 minutes, as many students will need to meet with their advisors as well.   For office hours, click here.

Important Registration Information

  • myRegistrationTime

You can find your registration time and status by following the “myRegistrationTime” link on the “Student Services” section of your portal. Start planning your schedule now – you can view the courses that are offered for Spring 18 at http://registrar.ucmerced.edu/go/schedule. You can also view the pre-requisites for each offered course by clicking on the CRN numbers on the schedule.

  • Course Planning

Recommended Course Schedule Link: http://registrar.ucmerced.edu/go/schedule. Unlike the course schedule within the portal, this link allows for easy viewing of specific course information. Clicking any CRN (in blue) will provide with course information including descriptions and current course pre-requisites. Please note that pre-requisites for courses do change and all students are held to the most current pre-requisites, regardless of catalog year. Students can view the planned list of courses for the 2018-2019 academic year here.

  • Repeat Permissions

If this will be your third (or subsequent) attempt at the particular course you were trying to repeat, you will need to fill out a "Subsequent Course Repeat" form, which can be found here.

  • Time Conflicts

It is the policy of UC Merced not to simultaneously enroll students in any courses with meetings or final examinations during the same time period without both instructors’ consent.   You should first see if you can rearrange your schedule to accommodate the conflicting courses.  Otherwise, you will need to obtain the permission of both instructors.  Please note that enrollment in courses which overlap more than 20 minutes will not be approved.  See our FAQs page for more information.

  • Summer Courses (for fall registration only)

If you enroll in courses for Summer Session at UC Merced that are prerequisites for your Fall courses, you should have no trouble enrolling for those Fall courses.  If you enroll in summer courses at institutions other than UCM and the course is a prerequisite for a course you want to register for in the following fall, you will need to show proof of enrollment to your advisor.  More information about summer course planning can be found at http://ns-advising.ucmerced.edu/summer.

  • Full Courses

If a class you want fills up, you should join the waitlist and keep monitoring the course schedule for spaces to open up. There will be no over-enrollment or exceptions for filled classes so have a back-up plan when drafting your schedule.

  • Registration Holds

A registration hold(s) may be placed on your account to prevent registration. You may view your hold(s) in your student portal.
