NS Student General Petition

INSTRUCTIONS: Complete the following information. This petition is intended for students who wish to petition for course waivers or exceptions to School policies. You will be notified via e-mail once a decision has been reached. Submit this form along with any supporting documentation.

Please see estimated timelines below for each type of request:

Course substitution for major requirements: 4-6 weeks
Concurrent Credit exception: 2-4 weeks
Repeat a course in which a C- has been earned: decisions are made within one week prior to the beginning of the requested term of enrollment
Grade Appeal: Please review timeline at Grade Appeal link

Course substitution for major or minor requirements: A course syllabus for the requested substitution must be submitted. For substitutions using independent study units, a faculty letter of support from the confirming the student’s research participation is also required.

Repeat a course in which a C- has been earned: Please specify the course and term in which to repeat it. Supporting documentation clearly demonstrating the need to repeat the specified course is required.

Grade Appeal: Please submit relevent documentation with your request

Concurrent Credit - taking courses during fall or spring at another institution while also enrolled at UC Merced. Statement must include explanation on why the course is being attempted at the community college instead of UC Merced. (PDF Unofficial transcript from other institution is required)

Retroactive Concurrent Credit - courses were taken during fall or spring at another institution while also enrolled at UC Merced. Statement must include: 1. Why was this course attempted at the community college instead of UC Merced? 2. What extenuating circumstance prevented you from requesting permission for concurrent credit in advance as required per policy? (PDF Unofficial transcript from other institution is required)
